Shading
Solutions
Good shading changes the way a room feels
The best shading systems are rarely noticed. They move before glare becomes distracting, soften harsh afternoon light, and create privacy without closing a room off from the outside world.
The architecture stays in focus. The view remains intact. The room simply feels more comfortable throughout the day.
That is what we design.
The Lutron Shading Family

Roller Shades (Palladiom)
Lutron’s most refined roller. Wired or wire-free — the battery version runs on six D-cells for three to five years, so a window with no power to it is no longer an argument. It fits openings from 21 to 144 inches wide, and it runs at under 35 dBA at three feet: quieter than the room it is in.
Roller Shades (Sivoa QS)
The workhorse. Sivoia QS covers almost any window condition and mounting detail, from 20 inches to twenty feet wide, in sheer, dim-out or blackout fabric. Where Palladiom is the jewellery, this is the range you specify when the house has forty windows and no two are the same.
Drapery
Automated pinch-pleat and ripple-fold drapery on the same system as the shades and the lighting. The drape is still the softest thing in the room; it simply stops being the thing nobody can reach behind the sofa.
Wood Blinds
Hand-crafted from North American basswood, with automated tilt. Intelligent Tilt Alignment keeps every slat in the room at the same angle — which is the difference between a wall of blinds and a row of blinds.
Honeycomb
For the windows that defeat everything else: bottom-up openings, angled glass, skylights. The cellular construction is also the one that actually insulates, which matters on an Ottawa January morning.
Horizontal Sheer Blinds
Fabric vanes suspended between two sheers. Tilt them and you filter the sun without losing the view — the compromise most window treatments force you to make, declined.
Tension Shades
Cable-tensioned, so the fabric stays flat and controlled where gravity will not help: skylights, angled glass, bottom-up openings. The shade cannot sag, so a sloped ceiling stops being a problem to solve.
Fabrics chosen for the view
Sheer, translucent or room-darkening — the openness of the weave decides how much of the view survives and how much of the sun does not. Hundreds of fabrics, and the one you choose changes the room more than the hardware ever will.
Watch them move together
Intelligent Hembar Alignment holds every hem within an eighth of an inch of the others as they travel — across a wall of windows, even where no two are the same size. It is the difference between a wall of shades and a row of blinds, and it is the thing you cannot see in a photograph. In our Ottawa showroom the Palladiom battery-powered roller shades, the Sivoia wired shades and the Lutron motorized drapery tracks are all installed and running. Ask us to send them down together.
