Nest is printed, not woven, though you’d be forgiven for thinking otherwise. Giraffe, a Toronto studio, builds each shade from its own math-driven 3D-printed pattern, and up close the layered lines read like fabric. Lit, the layers set up a soft moiré and spread a warm glow through the off-white shade.

That texture is what makes Nest easy to live with. Over a dining table or a kitchen island it reads as a soft, tactile object rather than a hard fixture, and it pairs naturally with the matching Nest sconce on a nearby wall.

Giraffe
